A New Beginning!

For the first post I think it’s important to talk about what this blog entails. This blog is a dedicated to helping you start your own online business. This way you can be self-employed, potentially work from home, and do what you love. You may read that and go “Great! But I really don’t understand the online world” but not to worry! This is a very step-by-step approach with many pictures and screen shots with arrows and pointers. Now if you are the total opposite and understand the online world very well but still aren’t totally sure how to have your own business online, this blog will still come in handy! Just skip by some of the very in depth sections you already know and just take in the important pointers, and other advice.

To give you a little background on who I am, my name is Beckiy and I personally have an online vintage store on a website called www.etsy.com. This will be the site we use as an example of where to sell your items as well as www.ebay.com. I have been learning a lot about the things to do and not to do to get your business moving forward on these websites. I also finished school for fashion design where I took marketing courses and many other things that come in handy when operating your own business.

It's probably important for you to understand now what etsy and ebay are. They are both online website where you can sell goods. Depending on what you are selling, one will be more useful than the other, or occasionally using both can be very productive. Etsy is a website dedicated to a community of online sellers that sell both handmade items, and vintage items. You can NOT sell anything new that you purchased to re-sell unless it is over 20 years old. On ebay on the other hand, you can sell almost anything (within reason by law). So if you are planning on purchasing a product at wholesale pricing and re-selling it, ebay or your own personal website will be your best option. If you personally (or personally with partners) create a product with your own hands then etsy is your best choice. These handmade products can be anything from jewelry, art, clothing, arts and crafts, etc. And for those of you out there that have a knack for treasure hunting and know a little bit about the history of an item, etsy is a great place to sell vintage & antique items and clothing.

The first thing we are going to go over in the following blog post is going to be “PRODUCT”. In this we are going to go over what you are going to sell and how you are going to sell it. So get brainstorming!
